  •  Jerry did apologize immediately after (8+ / 0-)

the tape came out. It wasn't he who said the word, it was a staffer in the room.

Whitman has been in the world for long enough to know things can get pretty rough. What the tape revealed is she was willing to cut a deal with a union in exchange for an endorsement while Jerry stood his ground.

    Jerry from the tape:
“I have been warned if I crack down on pensions... they’ll go to Whitman, and that’s where they’ll go because they know Whitman will give ‘em, will cut them a deal, but I won’t.”

There was only one journalist reporting it was a female voice to begin with.  The female voice can be heard saying: "What about saying she's a whore?" because of Whitman's pandering to a police union for their endorsement. Whitman, who's made no secret of detesting unions, compromised her principles for personal gain -- one of the definitions of a whore. It's not the first time in this campaign that she's done so either... for example, her Spanish language ads, where she said one thing in Spanish and the complete opposite in English. If Whitman's offended by being called a whore, perhaps she shouldn't act like one.

Meg got the tape as payback for a favor... if she was so terribly offended why did she hold onto it for 5 weeks, at which time her campaign spread it?

      •  A WORD by staffer trumps an ACT by Candidate.... (0+ / 0-)

only in Republican and media land.

And this doesn't even begin to deal with fact that it was woman staffer.

If the shoe was on the other foot and it was the N-word, does anyone doubt media would proclaim it an unimportant gaffe and ignore it heneceforth if the staffer who said it was black?  Well, a black staffer for a Rethug...
