That is: if the President plans on keeping his promise to end DADT "THIS YEAR" (SOTU, Jan 2010).

And if he doesn't keep that promise, well, we're just supposed to forget all about it ever happening... just like he told members of the LGBT community to:

"And I want you to know that I expect and hope to be judged not by words, not by promises I've made, but by the promises that my administration keeps..."

    Sure, Mr. President.

We'll forget all about those promises you made (and broke) in favor of only judging you on the ones you've kept.

    I bet you'd like that, wouldn't you?

    But, tough shit. Ain't happening.

You've got T minus two months (and some "change") and counting.

    Tick. Tock.

(of course, in the meantime, there's nothing stopping you from reaching over and picking up that fuckin' pen right over there...)

    •  It's impossible really to explain the disconnect (8+ / 0-)

between the ongoing discharges under DADT... and candidate Obama's promise of fierce advocacy.

Both of those things can't be true at the same time.

He also cannot believe that these discharges "hurt our national security" while, at the same time, allowing them to continue to happen for failure to reach across his desk and pick up a fucking pen.

Or, he DOES believe that, and indicts HIMSELF on the charge of actively "hurting our national security".

        Which is it, Mr. President?

        You're full of shit...?

        OR...

You're actively jeopardizing the security of our nation and people?

Do try to walk yourself out of that dark corner, jerk-off.

until the very end. I've promised myself however that I won't rec direct insults like this, because they just give the President's ardent supporters an excuse to turn off, without even pretending to engage the cogent points you make.

I gave up on adjusting my actions here based on the ignorance of others long ago.

If they can't get past me calling him a jerk-off for acting like a jerk-off in this regard, to look at the substance beyond the name, it says more about them than it does me.

I just think that if folks on DKos are impervious to persuasion, the chances of moving the whole fucking country left aren't bright.
