    Which one should we be more afraid of: a body that's at least theoretically answerable to the people and at least theoretically subject to the limitations of the Constitution - and I agree that we should be more serious about enforcing those and demanding that the national security apparatus lives by them - or a corporation that answers to nobody but its own shareholders and isn't restricted by things like the Fourth Amendment?

    What have you done for DC statehood today? Call your Rep and Senators and demand action.

      after I learned about Google.

      Neither is acceptable, not in a "free" society.

      What we call god is merely a living creature with superior technology & understanding. If their fragile egos demand prayer, they lose that superiority.

        ...I think the first can be acceptable.

        All it requires is that the Constitution be followed. The Feds can skim the public internet to their heart's content, but to intercept any private or encrypted communication requires a judge's OK.
