  •  Hiya, navajo! (14+ / 0-)

Great diary. Looks like there are some very good ideas there for things to cook to take to a Thanksgiving feast. I know the day's named after a massacre but that's the day our friends having a potluck feast, so if we're going to share Indian food, I will make sure to tell everybody there to celebrate American Indian Heritage Day the next day and that this food is an early celebration of that day. (All the people there will be Democrats and it's definitely multicultural so I think it will go over well there.) I'm thinking Hidatsa Pumpkin, personally. I already have everything on hand except the pumpkin itself.

A modern salmon dish, very popular here in the PNW, is dishwasher salmon. I think the alder or cedar planked stuff is superior in every way so maybe it's time to get a plank out and chop some of the firewood into cooking size chunks (our barbecue grill can handle wood fires). I have Indian-caught coho filets in the freezer. Salmon's a big favorite with our family.

I love the way you've adapted your hearth to be a cooking center and think I'm going to copy you if you'll tell me where you got that grill setup.

    And MB, happy early birthday.
