  •  so what? (0+ / 0-)

Actually reading over the cmp page informs me they will sell plenty of rifles that are deteriorated and pitted to the point of unable to be used.

They disclose that fact up front.  If you buy one anyway you have no grounds to complain.  If you buy one and try to fire it without having it checked out by a competent gunsmith then you shouldn't be surprised if bad things happen.

I suppose you are now aware that CMP is not a beacon of quality milsurp guns for cheap prices.

I never said it was a beacon of "quality" for cheap prices.  I said they have been selling these weapons without issue for a long time now.  If you are aware of any issues that have popped up why don't you share them with us?

Once the lease ends, we take them back in whatever condition they are in and then what... CMP sells them in 'as is' condition?

They weren't going to the CMP, but yes, presumably whomever sold them would sell them in an "as is" condition.

Are you jumping at the chance to discover you've gotten a damaged chamber, heavily rusted and/or pitted barrel, chunk of rust for a receiver, termites in the wood, or any number of other things that render this korean-held weapon basically useless?

Maybe I want to buy a bunch of them and assemble a working gun from the parts.  Maybe I just want one to hang on the wall and never intend to fire it.  Maybe I want one for parts for another working gun.

Why shouldn't I have the chance to buy one of these weapons?  Answer me that question.  You've told me why YOU wouldn't buy one.  Now tell me why the Obama Administration should make that decision for me?

There are four boxes to be used in the defense of liberty: soap box, ballot box, jury box and ammo box. Use in that order.
