maybe 200, maybe 300 yards from my kids elementary school.

All the other kids in the neighborhood ride a bus to school, no joke, because there is a road with a moderate amount of traffic and no crosswalk.

When I told the school I'd be walking my kids to school, they freaked out, you'd think I was saying I was going to be distributing free crack to the kids.

So I look like a freak walking my kids 200 yards to school, passing the bus on the way.  I don't care, there is NO WAY I'm putting my kids on a bus for that distance, and I think it's embarrassing that it's even an issue.

Also, we lived in OC and my son rode his bike to school about a mile each way.  The schools there drove me crazy because they had cut all the buses due to budget, but the schools were never meant to accommodate 1,000 parents driving their kids to school every day.  It was a total nightmare, every day.

    Sigh.

I blog about my daughter with autism at her website
