I spent my first years in OC and we all walked to school - even though we had to cross a busy street - and we could even walk to the library ourselves. We moved away when I was 7.

Fry, don't be a hero! It's not covered by our health plan!

We walked and biked to school until 1995, when my friends and I began to get our licenses and started driving.

I still see kids walking and biking when I'm back there, but I don't know if the proportions have changed. This was in Tustin, btw.
