The Republicans will attempt to shed the teaparty and extreme right after the election, but it won't work.  Unlike twenty years ago, they'll find that all the money they spent created a set of expectations and that the internet now provides a way to organize and communicate.  There will be right wing losers and they'll have nothing better to do than keep the ball rolling.  They'll be able to raise money and concentrate resources.  The media, which needs drama, will provide attention.

The establishment Republicans just want to slash taxes and regulation and feed labor and the middle class to the Corporations.

However the gun toting, head stomping soldiers of the right want something more.  A full social issue agenda, plus material gains.  They're not going to get either, so they'll stay organized and they'll be back.  The Republicans won't be able to control them.
