From the New York Times 10.19.2010:

The Intel Corporation said on Tuesday that it planned to invest $6 billion to $8 billion to upgrade manufacturing plants in the United States and build a new one in Oregon, adding as many as 1,000 new high-tech positions and thousands of construction jobs.

It is estimatedthat the construction jobs will be in the 6,000 to 8,000 range. This is a Big Fucking Deal™ for Oregon's economy. Perhaps this is a harbinger of a capital spending boom in 2011.

but my local Girl Scout store and the local Starbucks are each seeing increased spending over a year ago. That, along with the recent reports that luxury items are selling again, seems to indicate move on the lower level.

      •  Micro and Macro are both important (0+ / 0-)

My amateur forecast is that the public sector - state and local - unemployment will climb while the private sector UE declines in 2011 with both declining in 2012. (and cheers for your Girl Scout store)
