Most powerful were Dr.Tiller's own words and the reality of the actions of the anti-choice zealots.

I was struck by how similar Dr. Tiller's personal journey was to our own late Dr. Harrison's. Both were moved to provide abortion services by the actual lives and stories of real women.

I no longer have any patience for anti-choicers. I will tell them to their faces that they promote abortion. Anyone who opposes the widespread availability of contraception and fact-based, age-appropriate sex education in schools promotes abortion.

I'm tired of the fetus fetishers.

Fetus Fetisher. I will never understand the obsession certain people have with the choice of a perfect stranger to end a pregnancy. What sort of person sits around all day seething over the thought that someone, somewhere, may be having an abortion?

I could understand their outrage if someone was attempting to force them to have an abortion, but that's not happening. It never will happen. So why do they care if a stranger chooses to have an abortion? What's it to them?

I have strong views about abortion as it relates to me. I know what choice I would probably make, if (God forbid) I ever find myself in a situation where abortion is a consideration. I don't worry about the choices other women might make. I trust my sisters to do what is right for them and their loved ones. What they do is none of my business. I know I wouldn't want someone attempting to make such a personal, private choice for me.

They claim to care about life, but that's a lie. I don't believe for one second that the anti-abortionists care about "life" - they just want control. You can't support war and the death penalty, while opposing funding for pre-natal care, birth control, HCR and childcare, and still call yourself pro-life.

The real pro-lifers on the anti-abortion side are few and far between.

        (albeit paraphrased)

She said the religious right needed to "get over their love affair with the fetus".

I agree with everything you said. I would only add that their fixation is based partly in fantasy. They are picturing happy, loving, intact, middle-class, (white) families with a dead baby. The reality is more complex than their binary minds can comprehend.

Their idea of "support" for mothers with unplanned pregnancies is to send them home from one of their "crisis pregnancy" scam centers with a warm, fuzzy blanket, some baby clothes, and maybe a baby seat.

They are completely divorced from reality. The best of them (and I used the term relatively) support adoption and fostering. Both of those are worth supporting and encouraging in their own right, but not because they reduce abortions (which they don't to any significant degree).
