The election of 2008 was full of hope for progress on healthcare and other important issues. But today Governor Dean says "the fight for real healthcare reform hasn't ended, it's only just begun." He warns us about the problems we face: climate change, immigration reform, and campaign finance. It is so sad. But that is the way things work.

Governor Dean is calling for hard work, redoubled effort, a second effort from all progressives. He is asking everyone to work within the system. And many will answer his call. They will be disappointed, they will grow weary and withdraw from the battle, but new, young, naive Americans will reach voting age and they will do their duty. They will work within the system and the system will continue to deny them justice.

Working within the system is a mistake. It is a big mistake. Governor Dean is old enough to know better.

Might and Right are always fighting, in our youth it seems exciting. Right is always nearly winning, Might can hardly keep from grinning.
