  •  The GOP has been breaking in half for years (0+ / 0-)

They are caught between ineffectiveness and putting candidates in office that will eventually be far more effective. How long before the big business / evangelical crazy coalition collapses? How long can  tea-party irrationalization go before grade school children can point out their fallacies?

Unless they wind up subjecting this country under a neo-facsist dictatorship, sooner or later the only way they will stay in touch with people will be for the moderates to start assuming important leadership positions.

They can't keep moving away from the center over time and stay relevant. Either that or they have to continue to drag the center with them and frankly there are too many liberals in this country to allow that to continue after a time. This is not idealism, it's simply the way things work. They are getting too far right to simply govern with any effectiveness. The Neocons are at a dangerous tipping point despite their widespread influence. It will continue to fail and barring a dictatorship eventually the losses will mount to where they are unsustainable.

    •  Whoops. I screwed up the first sentence (0+ / 0-)

They are caught between ineffectiveness and putting candidates in office that will eventually be far more INEFFECTIVENESS.
