Your reactions to the experiences were perfectly understandable and logical.
Good you found help to climb out from under.
Telling it here may be helpful to others facing similar troubles.
I had a client who could not bear to go outside unaccompanied.
Her partner brought her in for help.
    The doctor, initially was unsympathetic.
Over time as the 3 of us worked on succeeding to apply for SSI benfits, I began to see the agoraphobia patterns.
We didn't start out knowing that as a diagnosis.
It's awful to be stymied and not get answers.
Once we all realised what the symptoms indicated, we went back to explain it to the psychiatrist.
Luckily he agreed and changed his attitude, helped win the case, and apologized for not being quicker to make the correct assessment.
Blame, shame, loss, and isolation are terribly difficult obstacles to cope with.
Community Mental Health programs are vitally necessary.
Imagine how horrible it is for those who need assistance but have none near.
I hope the Bernie Sanders part of the new HC act will alleviate the dearth of treatment facilities.
