which is why to vote FOR Democrats who, in large part, went along on some of those policies mentioned and did too little to change them, despite a promise to.  They hardly put up a fight.

We pretend only the Republicans are at fault, yet independent voters turn away.

It's not rocket science to see what has happened.

Why can we not accept that our own leaders have dropped the ball?

And why is there an assumption that we still need convincing of the nature of Republicans, that this evidence will change the game and make Democrats better at pursuing our interests?

      Not really a difficult concept!

Sure, I would vote for the Green Party candidate in many elections, IF and only if we had IRV (Instant Runoff Voting).

But in the meantime, it is pretty easy to tell who to vote for, "D" for the sane person, or "R" for the radically deranged lunatic.

      Is that so hard?

Most districts have safe seats, so there really is no choice to get the best candidates.

I understand what you are saying, and only wish it were so simple, but at present, too many Democrats think we have a monopoly on sanity, and I find that this is part of the problem.

We get lost in our own claims of superiority, and the facts often show we are no more virtuous when you get down to it.

A whole caucus voting lockstep and a handful of Dems.  I will take the party with the range of views over the unibody one.  Why is it that we have conservative dems, moderate dems and liberal dems but our choice with the republicans is between conservative and very conservative?  And even when there is dissent the Republicans end up voting with their party?  No one but no one group agrees that much with each other.

So yeah - I will keep voting for Dems and encouraging and working for them until I think that the Republican party offers real choices and not just Stepford choices.  And I will be disappointed that I haven't seen everything I want to see happen or when we take progressive steps those steps are smaller than I want.  Because I see that we are heading in the right direction and I won't quit on providing a better country for my children and their children and their children.
