  •  Dallas Morning News has it this AM (none)
By their DC correspondent, G. Robert Hillman (I assume it's his real name!).  link: http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/news/washington/stories/021105dnnatreporter.496e4.html

My letter to him (also poted on NYT thread - wanted you to know):

    "Mr. Hillman:

As a 25-year + DMN subscriber, I appreciate your coverage on this issue in this morning's edition.  Your inclusion of the points regarding Guckert's questionable credentials, his continuing accreditation and his access to White House briefings for about two years (under an assumed name), the "softball" questions, and the connections between Talon News, GOPUSA and Bobbie Eberle all brought out important background and details of this story.  The website development Guckert was involved in is not a matter of invading his privacy, since all the information was on the Web in plain view, but is a matter of involvement by someone with access to the White House who was involved in questionable and possibly illegal activities.  Questioning the White House Press Secretary about this seems to have been fruitless, but someone at the White House ("staff", according to Mr. McClellan) approved "Gannon"'s credentials on a continuing basis since Ari Fleischer's departure.

One very important issue is "Jeff Gannon"'s access to the memo regarding Valerie Plame and her exposure as a covert CIA operative.  This action exposed her and ruined her career, but more importantly put our own security and threat of other agents at risk.  This is potentially a treasonous action, and no one has yet been brought to task for it.   Representatives John Conyers Jr. of Michigan and Louise M. Slaughter from Rochester NY, wrote yesterday to Patrick Fitzgerald, the independent prosecutor appointed in the Plame case, seeking an investigation into how Guckert is involved in this.

The issue is not just his lack of credentials, nor his political point of view.  As you point out in your article, there have been THREE instances of the Administration paying journalists or others with taxpayer funds to promote its policies.  Was "Gannon" an amateur, or a plant; and if a plant, how much was he paid, and by whom?

I am a member of DailyKos, and a reader of but not contributor to the efforts by others to find out more about this fake journalist.   There is more here, and I ask and encourage you to research, dig, and verify with separate sources some other aspects of Guckert's time "covering" the White House.  I draw your attention to the following press release posted on the site last night.  Links to this release are here: http://divdb.com/propagannon/guckert.pdf  and here: http://divdb.com/propagannon/guckert.html.  Thank you again for your writing.  I look forward to further investigation from you and DMN on this story.
