  •  I think if the president decides (0+ / 0-)

that cooperating with the GOP is in the best strategic interests of the Democratic Party, then I'll follow his leadership and judgement on that move.
Our goal must be to win back the House, retain the Senate and re-elect our president in  2012.  Frankly, because of Democratic disunity following the 2008 election, that job has been made far more difficult.
I don't disagree there are other strategies being debated that appeal to even a majority on DKos.
It's just that, in light of a very sobering and disgusting night, this is the one I will endorse:
Follow President Obama's leadership into 2012.

....will following the Republican agenda gain Democrats House and Senate seats in 2012? I'm not going to follow Obama off a cliff. He was right in 2008 and I maintained my support for him, but he didn't do enough in 2009 and 2010 and he demoralized the base. This is the result and we're going to get more of the same if he follows on that path.

      •  I don't think President Obama will (0+ / 0-)

"follow the Republican agenda" like a blind man.

That said, I do think he may decide to pursue, strategically speaking, areas of agreement with them that will seem repugnant to many of us but to which, for long-term Democratic political gain, he may accede.

If you believe our president would lead us off a cliff, you do not share my confidence in his judgement or leadership.

That's fine.  But I have decided to completely trust this great man and great Democratic.

He's been doing it all of his political career, and especially over the last two years.  Trust him at your peril.  He hates you and everything you say you stand for.

        •  That's ludicrous (0+ / 0-)

Never EVER blindly follow any politician. Think for yourself. He's not Dear Leader. I am personally confident that Obama's political instincts have not abandoned him. His statement today showed that. He's not going to start acceding to GOP demands, I don't think. Which is smart, because doing so will embolden them and will depress Democrats.
