    I'm not.

I think it was the height of stupidity.

If we hadn't primaried her, she would have still got her ass handed to her by Boozman. Her numbers were south of 40% and weren't budging. There's no guarantee that Halter would have won, but at least he would have had a chance. I can make the occasional compromise, but there's no point in having Democrats who can't win elections.

      •  Not necessarily (0+ / 0-)

I think she could have won had Halter not beat her up so much in the primary, and Halter would ahve probaby been further to the right than she was given his record.

Get back to me after you all do the same to Feinstein in 2012. I'll be supporting her in the primary.

        •  Look, if Lincoln... (0+ / 0-)

....had strong popularity ratings, it would have made no sense to primary her and the whole thing never would have happened. The fact was that her poll numbers were atrocious. Those are the poll numbers that people don't recover from, unless there's a severely divided opposition, which wasn't the case in Arkansas. She was polling in the low-to-mid 30s in EVERY SINGLE POLL. She could have been smart like Chris Dodd and decided to retire in the face of poll numbers that just weren't moving. Instead, she stuck around and got shellacked. Blaming this on Bill Halter makes no sense. She was polling in the 30s before Halter ran and she was polling in the 30s after he ran. She just wasn't popular with Arkansas voters, but she insisted on running. I blame Blanche Lincoln for costing us a Senate seat, not Bill Halter.

As for Feinstein, while she's far from my favorite Senator, she has been there on a lot of critical votes and generally voted the right way. That's key. Plus, she's hugely popular in California and she'll win re-election in a walk, so there's no reason to primary her.
