  •  Involuntary is the key word. (0+ / 0-)

I've been on the BART in that station many many times. It can get very ugly. It's very understandable, if you're paying attention and have all the facts, that  Mehserle intended to use the Taser, not the gun.

People want to be angry, because times are harder than they expected. Riots will make Oakland poorer, which is the exact opposite of what you want.

I agree that the Keith Olbermann story is not as important, though, unless perhaps we're going to see big liberal riots. Probably not, huh?

    •  You think that's why people are angry? (2+ / 0-)

Only because of hard times now? No, they're angry because times have ALWAYS been hard when it comes to Black people in the American justice system. African Americans had to fight just to be recognized as full human beings by law! Look at the history of the courts: Three-Fifths Compromise, Dred Scott, Jim Crow, Emmit Till, etc., etc. Many, if not most people reacting negatively to this Mehserle trial already know this, and the Grant case serves as only the latest example of an unequal, broken justice system.

It's a dangerous station, and I see NO justification for hassling present-day people for the color of their skin, white OR darker, because previous generations misbehaved.

Sometime, it has to stop, and it's been my experience that a person from the black culture succeeds pretty much as they don't exhibit its negative characteristics.

        Shall I enumerate them?
