  •  Burston on the loyalty oath (1+ / 0-)

I don't know if you attended Bradley Burston's speech in San Francisco recently, but he addressed the loyalty oath issue during the Q&A.  He put it in context by describing the status of Russian immigrants in Israeli society -- as he described it, they are basically considered like "white trash" in the US.  Held in very low regard. And with that context in mind, he characterized the loyalty oath as something that Lieberman is promoting to make his constituency, the Russian immigrants, feel better about about themselves.

your point? you do know the british offered palestinians no representation (unlike jews in paestine) for decades before '48 until they accepted the mandate as a precondition, don't you? a mandate that stripped them of political rights in their homeland? khalidi:

fatally compromised..by the absolute precondition that they accept the terms of the mandate, which enshrined their inferior status

palestinians have been at this for almost a century, you don't think some story about russians feeling good about themselves is gonna fly do you?
