make better consumers, in terms of quantity and excess, and they also have less interest in complicated matters that don't provide immediate gratification.  A lot of people now think that the word maturity means 'old'.  Who aspires to be a mature person, anymore?

Less impulse control means quicker to spend money. Therefore, embed "your appetites are your identity" attitudes. But what a great way, and a great audience, for which to sell politicians as products.

This is not theoretical. I used to work for a high-end typeshop, and we'd be doing the material for international conferences for the top advertisers. This was part of their cure for the dreaded "inner-directed consumer."

The rest was to "sell the experience" not the product. Soon after this conference we saw our first commercial for the crappy instant coffee which "had the taste of old Vienna." Appealing to the crowd which fancied themselves sophisticates.

Until we break the corporate virtual monopoly on what we hear and see, we keep losing, don't matter what we do.
