While O'Donnell was exhibiting b*tchiness worthy of Carly Fiorina, I've also found Greenwald's 24/7 rags on Obama, though often valid, were also tiresome.

To be honest, I'm sure that Republicans got tired of Greenwald's rages against Bush too.  I'm glad that Glenn is out there, but it's instructive to realize where he's coming from.

Greenwald is NOT a Dem.  That means that though he's a wonderful stickler for civil liberties in the abstract, he's not wild about traditional social programs either.  He hates us and he hates the statist Republicans equally.

I also agree that O'Donnell is a little too accommodationist with the GOP for my taste.

Nonetheless, while Obama has many faults, the Bush show this week should remind us that THERE ARE differences between the two Presidents.  I never was under any illusion that Obama, while I like him a lot, was any more than a centrist corporate Democrat.  I therefore am not suffering from any brutal disillusion since '08.

It is our job as the base to support the President by not tearing him down with relentless ad hominem attacks, while strongly encouraging him to move in a progressive direction.  We need to be as loud and obnoxious as the Tea Party.  (Sorry John Stewart).  Only then will the President develop a spine.

... to call him a libertarian or put him in that (or any other) box is pretty unfair.  He railed against Obama for his civil liberties record (which is pretty hard to dispute).  But he also railed against Obama for his choices on the deficit commission, and the lack of transparency in how he operates compared to how he campaigned.

Glenzilla has devoted diaries to the Democrats going after Social Security (which might not happen, but the tea leaves are not good at all), and how stupid the media is in covering the right.

More to the point, Glenzilla is a partisan for the stuff he believes ... he is decidedly a civil libertarian ... and does not look at Democrats or Republicans as teams.
