    If you follow the link, there's some pretty serious corrections to the original story.

      because the diarist declined to emphasize Hurlbert's specious argument that if Erzinger is in prison, he'll be less able to pay a financial judgment against him... an argument that neither Dr. Milo nor his attorney buy into at all.

      Presumably, Erzinger has substantial assets which could be liquidated to pay the judgment, while he enjoys a prison jumpsuit and concrete walls for the next few decades.

      When you triangulate everything, you can't even roll downhill...

        Second of all, they didn't decline to charge him, they simply offered him a plea bargain that would avoid the felony charge.

          at the offer to escape a felony charge. Who wouldn't? He obviously knew he was guilty. That offer indicates there was never any serious intention to charge him with a felony.

            Why would a DA and a judge let a hedge fund manager off for such a heinous act, particularly in this climate of bankster hate?  I'm not totally buying into the outrage, as I think some big puzzle pieces are missing from the reports.
