    if it went to creating a real high speed link between NYC and Boston. We have one, you say? Not...exactly. We have about 100 mi of high speed track out of 230 or so that connects the two cities. The rest is all ordinary track that's shared with local commuter railroads like Metro North. There's no dedicated track in New York or most (if not all) of CT. Not until you get to Rhode Island or extreme eastern CT.

    Of course it would be great to have NY Albany Buffalo as well; just not nearly the usage that you see between NYC Stamford, Bridgeport, New Haven, Providence, Boston
    NYC and Boston takes 3:30. The train between Taipei and Kaoshung in Taiwan, going approximately the same distance, in a very populous country, takes 1:46. I know; I've ridden it; totally different experience.
