    Albany Right now it runs 1 a day in each direction.   It's the train that connects Chicago to Boston, so by the time it reaches Albany it can be an hour & a half late.

    When William Weld was elected governor of Massachussets (1994?) he talked about building a high speed train line between Boston and Springfield, MA down the middle of the Thruway. That train could have been extended to Albany.

    It didn't happen - but even a normal train route between Boston and Albany (with stops in Springfield and Worcester, MA 2-3 times a day would get great ridership, and it would compete successfully with the Boston to Albany flight.

    HSR is a classic case of 'if you build it, they will come.'
