    until we can get someone with common sense that may not be very common among GOP governors in Trenton. This is funny. When we talk about  governor Perry in Texas and his seceding minions, I just want them to go, forgetting the liberal and progressives In Texas. Now that I am in governor Christie boat, my blood boils when folks wanted to take away NJ share of the national pie. I can feel what Texans liberal feel with this article

      No, New Jersey spoke, picked Christie, and has to take the consequences. The country needs the economic stimulus and infrastructure upgrade now, not when Jersey finally makes up its mind to live in reality. I'm sorry you're stuck with Christie, but you are. NY'ers just sent these barbaric Republicans packing, and we're ready to spend the money right.

      When NJ decides to connect to NYC properly, it'll have a very useful NY rail network to tap into.

        what we want is a high-speed network.  So even if these jackasses act like.....jackasses, how do you run lines west out of New York without passing through NJ? How do you run lines down the Ohio Valley without passing through Ohio?  

        I suppose you could federalize it and just have no stops built through those states?

          The way you run lines west out of New York without passing through NJ is to go through Pennsylvania. NJ borders NY across the Hudson from NYC for only about 4 miles north of NYC. From there it's only 50 miles to PA. Going around NJ is no problem. Indeed, a rail line entirely inside NY from NYC to Buffalo then Toronto would be very valuable, like the Erie Canal once was. From Port Jervis a line could extend down to Philly. Later, if NJ wants to join the party, it can join an even better network than the one it's dissing today.

          Or we could put a Federal rail project along the rights of way of Federal highways across NJ. We don't have to stop in NJ if NJ doesn't want the project. We could also just improve the existing MetroNorth rail lines that do run through NJ, if only to connect to new lines in NY, as part of the MTA.

          New Yorkers know how to avoid NJ, especially when NJ wants to play badly.
