    drive to a city if you need a car to get around once you're there.

    But in cities like NYC, parking is hideously expensive, the streets are crowded, and even with a diminished subway service people can get around the city by MTA or take a cab.

    In Boston, different story - it's not that hard to drive around the city and the MBTA subway system is not all that great. (Not as many cabs, either.)
