    If the upper-class cuts are just extended temporarily it wouldn't be as huge a disaster, although it'd still be caving.  If he agrees to extend them permanently, then it's just dumb and spineless as hell.

    Why he's playing ball with people who've admitted their only goal is making him a one-termer, I don't know.  The surest way to keep the economy stagnant is to extend those rich-fuck tax cuts.  They're what kept the country mired down for almost a decade, and the myth of "the wealthy will create jobs if we let them keep more of their money" is still popular with Republicans (who believe a lot of other make-believe fairytale shit), but it's false.

    Republicans are struggling to keep the economy stagnant because it's the only hope they have of getting elected.  Why Obama would help them do that is a mystery to me.  I hope he's smarter and tougher than this.
