  •  Screw the bush tax cut, pass a seperate Obama cut (18+ / 0-)

The democrats, before Dec 31st, should pass a completely seperate, unrelated tax cut for middle income families.

Claim credit for a tax cut. Let the republicans try to filibuster a new tax cut. There are enough seats to pass a freaking tax cut of all things by Dec 31st.

Whatever we do, don't mess with the Bush tax cuts. Don't decouple them, just let them expire as Bush intended them to. By letting them expire, we share $700 billion dollars off our national debt. Surely, the republicans are cool with paying down the debt.

Pass a seperate middle income tax cut by Dec 31st, that the democrats own, and can take credit for.

      strong policy and strong politically.

Doing the half a loaf compromise is horrible policy and politics. We enlargen the national debt to enrich billionaires AND -- I promise -- politically you lose your base and the fucking Republicans will claim credit for 'forcing' the President to act.

Great way to lose in 2012 however, cause I sure hell am not voting for anyone who caves on Bush tax cut for billionaires.

I think we ought to crank up a petition promising to defeat EVERY FUCKING DEMOCRAT  who votes for such a compromise. And we do it now, so they get the message in advance, loud and clear.

for a petition stating that Democrats must pass a wholly seperate tax cut for middle income families and small businesses by Dec 31st.

Let the poorly formulated Bush tax cuts expire as Bush intended them to. Don't touch them with a ten foot pole. Renewing them adds 700 billion to the debt and primarily rewards corporations and multibillionaires.

Pass an obama tax cut that the democrats own, and that rewards small businesses and middle income families.

      •  not gonna happen (0+ / 0-)

it's not going to happen because Obama's a pussy, and not either of the good kinds either.

        that's just how it is.

repugs set the tone of the debate. The Bush tax cuts require no action. But the debate in Washington centers around what to do about them when, by design, nothing needs to be done about them. Just introduce new tax cuts for the middle class that meet or even exceed the levels of the Bush taxes. (sigh) It often seems like Dems don't want to win.
