  •  Oh yeah, China will drive this (4+ / 0-)

because it's in their best interest to do so.

They have manufacturing capability we lack (thanks, Congress!), they have expertise in manufacturing alternative energy equipment, and they'll have both their domestic and the international markets lined up.

    It's a win/win/win - for everybody but us.

WE could have been the ones manufacturing that new technology. WE could have been the ones building all the new infrastructure. WE could have been the ones with the high speed rail, the electric cars, the wind/solar farms.

But it won't be us - it will be CHINA.

And all because the knuckle draggers in Congress and business refuse to take any risk, to allow any change.

    Way to go, morons.

    •  Sadly, I agree (2+ / 0-)

The US is passing by a huge opportunity. It won't be gone in 2 years, but without legislative action within the next 2-4 years I believe the US would definately lose it's edge in R+D (which is still far ahead of China and less so Japan) and simply would come to the market too late to attract the capital investment required for industrialization.

I've cited this elswhere but add again:

Absence of US Clean Energy Policy Will Send Global Capital Elsewhere

Today, American start-ups find it easier to get funding in China than the US and that should not be the case.

      What about my Daughter's future?
