    but there is something much more important to consider that the vulnerability of trains to attack, and that is increased commerce, and decreased pollution.

    If pax are moving away from Amtrak to HSR, more older rail is available for freight traffic, thus reducing bottlenecks.

    HSR is nothing but a win win, especially as air travel becomes more expensive, more intrusive, and ever less profitable.  Seriously, getting on a plane now is like taking a second class bus in Mexico 30 years ago.
