  •  I hope she runs, I really do (5+ / 0-)

further, I hope she is the 2012 GOP nominee and chooses Jim DeMint to be her runningmate.

But I don't think any of that is going to happen.

Because Sarah Palin is what she is in our society soley because she has legions of other people to blame for her failures and short-comings, and, because she is not a candidate or an office-holder but a professional conservative celebrity, she can claim any critique or criticism out of bounds, and the Village defers to her celebrity status.

She cannot afford to be our national Sharron Angle/Christine O'Donnell.

Everything goes if she gets Barry Goldwatered.

After a few months on the campaign trail, even our largely castrated and venal press corps would have too many John Ralstons for her candidacy to bear.

I have a hard time with anyone finding her to be a viable political threat to take the Presidency, she's a professional victim at the head of a small army of professional victims.

I have a theory that the accumulated pain, frustration, disappointment, and aggravation of the first term is going to manifest itself in the 2012 Obama campaign. The campaign machine of the candidate is not going to be like the Administration it helped to elect, diplomacy and bipartisanship will be out the window, if anything, the OFA is going to be ruthless and brutal.

I predict Sarah Palin is in for a major world of hurt if she is the nominee.

John Thune coulda been a contenda, but he's incredibly stupid.
What I'm looking forward to is the GOP spending a billion or so of Wall Street/Koch Bros./Chamber's money trashing one another and then have Palin emerge victorious, and get 25% of the pop. vote.

        •  Two years is a long time and there are (0+ / 0-)

lots of potential candidates, many of whom work for Fox in one capacity or another...Palin, Huckabee, Gingrich, et al.

I read somewhere today that the Fox Presidential Candidates' appearances have so far run up what would amount to over $40 million in campaign funding.

I don't think Jeb has a chance because there are simply not enough American voters with permanent amnesia.  He might be doing fine in Florida, but nationwide, the Bush name would sink him.  Dubya's book tour and what will probably be much more exposure is enough to remind voters what the Bush family has done and will do...again.

          •  All of those candidates have glass jaws or (0+ / 0-)

            achilles heels, or both.

Huckabee has a skeleton problem, #1 is the rapist/murderer? who rape/murdered after Huckabee pardoned him.

Gingrich is "so '90's", and the theocrats won't let him slide on his marital hypocrisy this time.

            Santorum is a creep.
            Pence    "  "  ".
Romney is a plutocrat Mormon who made his money outsourcing jobs. And there's Romneycare.
            Thune is stupid.
Demint is a neoconfederate, has no chance outside of the South.
            Jindal is pathetic.
Palin is crazy, stupid, evil, vindictive, a loose cannon, "off the tracks" , way out of her league.
This whole Bush book tour is an attempt to massage W's public image while Pres. Obama is at a low point.
            I'm forgetting someone...
At the same time, we're hearing about Jeb more and more. They'll try to bring him in as the Great White Hope. The smart Bush. The centrist.
