so one is compelled to follow the money.

Along with various drug cartels bribing 'officials' in countries all over the planet, the 'Prison Industrial Complex' has a for-profit life of its own. Many tens of thousands of jobs are at stake, and huge profits of companies that have contracts with County, State and Federal entities.

It's not just pot. It's coca, poppy, methamphetamines, hallucinogens. I'm not in favor of making everything 'legal', as some of these drugs are as dangerous [or in a few cases, more dangerous] as alcohol and tobacco.

My point is, we'll never be able to have a wide reaching and comprehensive discussion about 'drug policy' unless we understand how much corruption is ingrained deep into government and industry. Look carefully at the highest levels of law enforcement and government in the US over the last 50 years, and you'll find evidence of drug cartel money and influence.

Iran/Contra was just one of the many examples of direct government involvement with the drug trade. Players inside the US government, inside the CIA, FBI and other agencies have been intimately involved in narcotics smuggling for many decades, controlling and directing drugs into black urban areas, specifically making money off the institutional slavery imposed by heroin addiction. The economic misery, and disenfranchisement of black voters, a side 'benefit'.

There are people who have been trying to tell the nation for many decades about these connections, but American eyes glaze over and refuse to deal with the reality.

The War on Pot is just a small part of the massive corruption evident inside DC.

Fixing the US and world economy is easy. Tax speculation, not labor.

we'll all be growing our own.
The truth is that now even the Medical marijuana boys don't want legalization.

I'll bet you could grow pot in Greenland [especially lately].

The criminal networks that are inside government exist in varying degrees. In places like Mexico and Turkey, there is effectively zero drug law enforcement. Here in the US, politicians are getting kickbacks from both drug cartels as well as the Prison Industrial Complex. Anyone who doubts me, do a little research on Denny Hastert: he's the Poster Boy for Turkish heroin money, he's swimming in it.

for those on the take. growers & dealers fought prop 19 like crazy in CA. I know people who received some serious menacing intimidation for supporting it out there. massive revenue streams, and the disruption thereof are no joke.

to the trouble. Growing a pot plant, and growing, harvesting, and curing so you end up with top grade marijuana are two very different things.

Brewing beer and making wine are pretty simple, too, unless you want to make a consistent product that actually tastes good. People who claim it's easy, or that everyone will do it, have never tried themselves.

Anybody can grow the plant. Doing it right is another matter.

Back in the day we'd offer two kinds, cheap and expensive.  Turned out nobody bought the cheap stuff but they liked having a choice..  cept my buddy Scott who smoked anything with delight.
It's a beautiful plant and the rest of my plants do better when there is pot growing. (I take better care of all).  A growers myth about doing it right, it's a weed. Get the right seed and everyone becomes a botanist. The only reason I can think of for not growing pot is the illegality and once that's gone it'll be as popular as roses in a garden. And you'll be able to buy seeds at home depot.
You probably grow some pretty good shit but I'll put mine up against yours anytime. and trouble.....one of the real pleasures in life is watching cannabis grow.
