    someone emerges that will seem, with substance or verbal tenacity, to fight to represent the generalized discontent, watch out.  Someone taller than Dennis Kucinich (and I love the guy).

    For all his personal flaws, and looking back, his hedge fund involvement, John Edwards expressed those sentiments and qualities at first look.  Is there someone with those abilities but not the baggage out there?  Probably.  Are people more fed up with biz as usual? Absolutely.  There's a lot of discontent.

    To me the question is the unite-able populist (in a good way) anger vs. money. Obama is increasingly viewed as representing the money/status quo.  There's a political vacuum there for non-racist and/or wacko votes from people that just want "it" to be better.

    Thanks for the thoughtful diary.  You provide great historical perspective and prospective.  The right challenges their own.  We should too.  It makes it real.
