    Thanks, everyone!

I was thinking, in reading over the comments, that someone (could be me, but not today) may want to do an abstract of the advice in TBK's diary without all of the narrative.  This would not be a replacement for this diary, but a supplement to it.  The only thing I think it lacks as a teaching tool is that it takes a long time to take out all the nuggets of advice among the narrative.  If someone would like to take a whack at that, I will link to it here and in future versions.  It would also be easier for the people to whom this is forwarded to read.

    Just a thought!

    They tortured people
    to get false confessions
    to fraudulently justify
    invasion of Iraq!

    •  Thanks for the public service - from a trauma Doc (6+ / 0-)

That's me, the one who has to deal with the broken people and occassionally non-heart beating ones who are finally scraped up and taken to my trauma center. Speaking as an academic I can say with all professional candor that the diarist is dead-on accurate.
Speaking as someone who lives in a bad weather state, I can say the driver is dead-on fucking accurate (like that comment about how SUVs are not immune from the laws of physics when driven on icy conditions at 60 mph. . . I have known state troopers to fall into this trap).
And lastly, speaking as a parent of a daughter and a citizen who has to read about three teenages recently killed in a wreck, as well as taking out two other older people going the other way when they crossed the median, because in all likelihood the teenage male was concentrating more on his female teenage girlfriend sitting next to him than on the road - good kids, not drunk or high, just inattentive and inexperienced and unaware of this; well I can say the diarist is dead on fucking-A better listen to this accurate. I get tired of these sad conversations I have to have with parents, and I can tell you that the scariest thing in the U.S is, amazingly, not Dick Cheney. It is multiple teenagers in the same car.
        You have been warned.
