i was just saying it to all the folks who are apparently writing about this today.

i also don't give a fuck about Obama's photo op.  not in the least.

but i do admit that this is kinda flag pinish.  if Obama decides to pardon some people then hooray for those people.  but if he doesn't then that doesn't mean that he's done something wrong.  this diary seems to me to be about how Obama actually cares more about turkeys than people.  that's absurd.  there are not even any names of anyone you think should be pardoned.   i named someone in my response so people could give me shit for my pick.

    •  Thats your own problem isnt it? (0+ / 0-)

The diary is about pardons. Since he's pardoning birds, and that is getting plenty of press, lets talk about his record on pardoning humans.

If your main argument is about "this isn't the right time to talk about this issue" then please tell me when it is so that I may promptly ignore that and talk about it whenever I think is best.

Finally, if you think someone's life is like wearing a flag plan, don't let yourself end up in prison, pal. There are plenty of people in our justice system right now who have lost their very freedom due to errors in the administration of justice. Just two weeks ago, in fact, it is likely that Texas just executed an innocent man. In fact, last year, they DEFINITELY executed an innocent man. We wont know until Obama's records are unsealed if that man asked for a pardon. But if he did and it was denied, methinks you'll think this is a much bigger issue than wearing a flag pin.

      •  by flag pinish i mean (0+ / 0-)

i mean the argument that if Obama has not pardoned anyone but turkeys that he cares more about turkeys than human beings.  that's a ridiculous thing to say.  not only because it's absurd, but also because he's doing the turkey pardon as a holiday tradition.  it's not like his pr team cooked up a way to sell him to the voters here.  it's a nice funny tradition for kids.  kids.  like lighting a christmas tree.  it's for the kids.  do you really have to turn a nice family tradition for kids into something serious?  really?  are you going to argue about cutting down rain forests when they light a christmas tree too?  come on.   do you think any of the people in prison hoping to be pardoned think you should use a fun kid tradition to talk on daily kos about how shitty the president is?  i personally doubt it.
