By enormous majorities, the public want to do more to reign in Wall Street, spend more to end poverty, and ensure that everyone has access to health care.

If the majorities in support of progressive policies were enormous, if the country were passionate about making even incremental advancement toward progress as polling suggests, their overwhelming passion would have been evident during the election.

    It was not.

Other than in answering poll questions, how do these overwhelming majorities manifest their passion for progressive policies?

Do they call their elected officials? Do they vote? Do their run for office at the local level?

Or do they sit passively on the sidelines, answering polls but not backing those answers they purport to believe in with action, i.e. voting and paying attention to politics?

The truth is Fox News voters showed up in greater numbers.

These are people who did not want a public option and they showed up in greater numbers.

These are people who did not manifest an interest in the repeal of Don't Ask, Don't Tell and they showed up in greater numbers.

These are people that did not receive half a loaf legislatively or a quarter of a loaf legislatively. They got nothing of what they wanted in 21 months and yet they showed up in greater numbers.

Meteor Blades sig line says it all, for me.

Don't tell me what you believe. Tell me what you do and I'll tell you what you believe.

Expressing an interest in progressive policies means nothing if you don't vote.

By not voting, you do not teach a lesson to the President and Congress, all of whom are well-heeled and have great healthcare and job prospects for the rest of their lives.

By not voting, the only message you send is that you are the absolute worst strategist to rely on against the horde of Fox News voters, because when the going gets tough, you can be relied on to unilaterally disarm and hand 53% of state legislatures to the GOP and the Koch brothers.
