  •  As long as by "generally", you mean "by the US" (0+ / 0-)

Or actually, "by the portion of the US that was not paying attention" and thinks that as long as there's a semblance of voting, all must be well. Here are a few of the reasons that it was not a free and fair election:

    1. The Resistance presidential candidate withdrew, citing the atmosphere of intimidation
    1. The two major electronic outlets that aired the views of the Resistance had been attacked and vandalized repeatedly by the military
    1. All human rights organizations that are accredited to observe elections refused to observe them, citing an atmosphere of intimidation and violence
    1. Officially reported numbers were fraudulent.

So as long as you're perfectly blind, the black you see is real.

    •  Amusing... (0+ / 0-)

      For example,

      1. All human rights organizations that are accredited to observe elections refused to observe them, citing an atmosphere of intimidation and violence

Who do you think accredits such organizations?

The International Republican Institute and the National Democratic Institute both observed and were satisfied.

If your political positions are so left wing that you think that the US Democrats are fascist dictator enablers you probably need to spend your time on a Socialist web site instead of here.

      •  Only scoundrels attack a person's patriotism (0+ / 0-)

Knowing that I am dealing with a scoundrel, I shall make this brief. The accreditation of the election observers follows a protocolestablished by the Council of Europe, the OAS, and the United Nations, and other international bodies, several of which the United States is a signatory to. The IRI and NDI are not accredited.

If you wish to call the OAS and UN leftwing extremist groups, please do so. It will not increase my contempt for your ad hominem tactics.

        •  Where did I attack your patriotism? (0+ / 0-)

I attacked your knowledge and your intelligence.

And now I'm attacking your reading comprehension.

The accreditation of the election observers follows a protocol [http://www.cartercenter.org/...] established by the Council of Europe, the OAS, and the United Nations, and other international bodies, several of which the United States is a signatory to. The IRI and NDI are not accredited.

The document you provide does not mention any list of "accredited" bodies or even that concept.  (It mentions accreditation of observers for individual elections.)

However, it does list the IRI and NDI as endorsers.

          So bite me.
