    What I don't get is how he could think this makes any sense when we've been talking so much about stimulus and the working and middle class needing more money in their pockets.

    He just did that payroll tax cut (the one no one knew about because it was about $8 week) to put more spending money out there for the economy, and now this? It makes no sense to me. Maybe it's just to balance that cut out to zero as an apology for doing it or something.

      He's positioning himself and his party for the upcoming fight over the federal budget.  He's trying to position his side as the centrists, and make the Republicans into the extremists.

        Freezing domestic Fed employee wages leaves more money to invest in stupid wars. The GOP agenda is cut spending except for war, prisons and highways.

          Republicans love spending money on wars, prisons too. But they don't like spending money on highways or any other public works. The prison guards often vote repub, so repukes will pay for prisons.
