many business (and states I might add) might (and have) freeze salaries instead of laying people off, or choose to hire new workers instead of raising current salaries

Why don't you just stop pretending and support a primary challenger already?

decided to freeze salaries for two years. By doing that we saved a lot of teachers' jobs. It is a sacrifice, but in bad times perhaps a little sacrifice is worth it.

The bankers and those in the financial industry will have to answer to themselves. We get no where running in circles, screaming that while they make money, we don't.

We do, as a country, have to begin thinking about our debts. This freeze also puts the Republicans on the spot. If they are for fiscal responsibility, then how will they vote no?

And if the average worker is then making sacrifices, how can they insist on keeping the tax cuts for the wealthy?

All in all - I am glad that my pay freeze assures someone keeps their job.
