  •  Absolutely. Money is only important when (5+ / 0-)

    people are deprived of its use.  It's sort of like literacy.  Only not being able to use the alphabet is a detriment.  How much people use it is both incalculable and unimportant.

    Perhaps that's the key.  When quantity is inverse to import, people become irrational.  More is supposed to be more influential than less.  

    The conservative mind relies mainly on what is plain to see.

        Sometimes I just write the connections the brain is trying to make and leave out some intermediate steps.

        What I've been trying to get across is that money is, like the alphabet, a figment of the imagination.  It's symbolic of real things and relationships (transactions, exchange of goods), but it has no value in and of itself.  So, people trying to accumulate it and hoard it are merely throwing a monkey wrench into the economy, doing neither themselves or anyone else a favor.
