  •  Where are WE? (5+ / 0-)

Why haven't WE taken the fight to Republicans?

Why are we sitting around waiting for "our leaders" to do everything for us?

The fighting Democratic spirit of the past existed in unison with strong unions and Alinsky-style community organizing.

The civilian activist base has dried up, and so elected Democrats have no model and no motivation for taking the fight to the Republicans.

side as stressed as possible, and as poor as possible, they won't have any fight left in them, or any money to take the fight to Washington.  Our prospects for real change get bleaker with each loss.

      •  Pardon me, but where are the strong unions. (1+ / 0-)

Union busting has been the hallmark of Republicans going back 30 years and the Democrats have been complicit.  Have we forgotten "Fuck the U.A.W." already?

The only time the Democratic party remembers unions is when they want support and checks.

As for community organizing, isn't one of those in the White House now?  How's that working out for us?

but what the fuck are you talking about?

          1. My very point is that we don't have strong unions any more. The reason the Democrats don't remember the unions is because they aren't powerful enough to command concern from the top.
          1. As for community organizing, Obama was not an Alinksy-style community organizer (are you even familiar with Alinsky?), and even if he was he is now in the system. Any real Alinskyist would tell you not to trust them for a minute once elected, and to make them behave by wielding organized political influence. The whole point is you need mechanisms to wield the political power of the public. Bitching online does not meet that mark, fun though it may be.
