    The odds of any Republican winning in 2008 were long no matter who the Dem candidate turned out to be.

    In the choice between changing ones mind and proving there's no need to do so, most people get busy on the proof.

      (a) Hillary started the campaign with something like 48% of Americans saying they would not consider voting for her under any circumstances.

      (b) Hillary's campaign against Obama was a disorganized, shortsighted, back-stabbing vortex of self-destruction. No indication it would've been better against McCain.

      (c) It's doubtful youth or African-Americans would've turned out for Hillary like they did for Obama. The rule is the youth vote is insignificant; 2008 was the exception.

      (d) As a speechmaker Hillary ain't bad, but she ain't Barack Obama.
