  •  Are we talking about tax cuts here? (2+ / 0-)

Indeed, Obama is the leader, and he gets some blame.

But Obama is not "capitulating" here on tax cuts. He was painted into a corner by Congressional Dems who at the last minute decided this is something they wanted to pursue because the base was angry.

Here's a test for you: when the economy was good between 2006 and 2008, and Democrats had reconiliation at their disposal and congressional majorities to send a budget to President Bush repealing the upper income tax credits, did they do it? No.

Logical test time: if they didn't do it when Obama wasn't around and conditions were favorable, what does that say about their priorities?

It says that their priorities don't benefit me or average citizens in the slightest. It says to me that in the backroom they collude with the opposition party while in public they play a faux game of political hot potato. It says to me that their policies are no different from Republican policies, which means that I see no benefit or gain from donating money, time, or votes to the Democratic Party.

        Yeah, most are still around.

Then again, Ralph Nader said the same thing to me in 2000. And look what it got us.

My philosophy? we're stuck in place. As unenthusiastic as I am about it, I have to keep voting for the people who either won't make it worse, or will make it better only incrementally.
