of a Palin Presidency, or any Republican presidency, will be huge.  I grew up in the West and I fear that no wilderness area will be spared energy development, no forest protected.  The environmental damage alone will be permanent.  You can forget debt swaps for conservation easements in the developing world, you can forget coherent policies on population growth and health, you can forget any sort of engagement with the nations of the south except for the most predatory kind possible.

And, though it is not a minor point, you can expect dismemberment of the New Deal.  For me, as a non-profit type and someone who lives on a modest income, that will probably mean poverty in old age.

You are paying attention, correct?  Exactly what do you think our side is doing now?

that by simply stating that the GOP is worse - that everyone seems so upset?  I don't agree with the Obama Administration efforts to weaken social security.  But let's be real for a minute - if you have a GOP house and a GOP senate, and no filibuster, and a GOP president, you will have a privatized social security.  All of our retirement security will go into an unregulated stock market, just waiting for the next big bubble.  There will be no safety net at all, which is worse IMO than a shredded one.

Have we gotten so crazy on this site that it's impossible to condemn the President while still stating the obvious - that the GOP is even worse?
