  •  PLEASE don't throw me in the briar patch!! (8+ / 0-)

This is just posturing, the Republican leadership know they have a long-term win on their hands.

Life is less stressful when you realize that Obama is a Republican in "D" clothing.

      11th dimensional chess, I guess?

It's far more likely the absolutists on both the left and the right need to zip up, because their paranoia is hanging out for all the world to see.

If Krauthammer didn't believe what he wrote, all he has to do is go back and re-read it... in pure terms of dollars, he's right - there is a magnitude of several times more spending for "Democratic" priorities over "Republican" priorities.

Now - that doesn't mean it's a no brainer to back the bill... Though I mildly back it - not to the point of screaming and yelling if it doesn't pass, but I mildly back it - I can appreciate the case to be made to hold the line on the 2% tax cuts.

But seriously, people... You really need to get better at understanding other mindsets.

To a dyed-in-the-wool conservative like Krauthammer -- it's completely plausible, in fact wholly likely that he hates this deal for precisely the opposite reasons YOU hate it.

His party just won a smashing victory in November.

To a conservative, why would he want to give the Democrats ANYTHING they wanted.... much less compromise to the point that in terms of pure dollars, they get about what... 3 times?  more than "his side" got.

I guess everyone's got their own blog now.
