    •  That's exactly what I was thinking... (5+ / 0-)

tie the Gulf to the Environment to the Political, which should be obvious but maybe not so much out there in the world.

Action is the only agent for change -- talking without action has never effected change anywhere, in any way, at any time.

I've been reading this morning, and not commenting much, because, basically, I have almost become like my "end of the world" silliness - sort of resigned to the idea that whatever we do it's not going to help; that we are collectively too far around the bend, and the vampire squids have far too much power for us to do much.

But I don't like that attitude, and I'm trying in my own way to counter those thoughts every time I have them.

The Gulf issues are where I feel most depressed. I'm only about a hundred miles inland, and the spill is completely off the radar here. Not a peep. As long as gas prices don't rise, nobody gives a shit. Maybe that is just a symptom of the greater problem - it's where I live...the idiocy about everything runs rampant, and the few progressives here are truly tilting at windmills. It's depressing.

But I try to get up every day, put on my chainmail, grab my sword, and ride against the forces of Mordor any way I can. I have not yet given up.
