kicked off our household's holiday viewing with our DVD of Hogfather.

We've already watched Charlie Brown on DVR and the George C. Scott Christmas Carol on DVD.

Tomorrow when we decorate the Christmas tree we'll probably put on It's a Wonderful Life. The first time I saw it was by accident -- my then-husband and I had just bought a little portable black-and-white TV to entertain ourselves in our nearly bare Santa Fe apartment, didn't know if we'd even be able to afford a Christmas tree, and IaWL came on the local late show. I'd never heard of it before, and was immediately entranced -- stayed up till 1 AM to watch the whole thing, in spite of having to be at work at 7 the next morning. I'm still irked by the idea that the worst fate Capra could imagine for Mary was life as an unmarried librarian. Other than that, I guess it's my favorite Christmas movie -- the end always makes me cry.

THE Christmas movie on TV when I was kid was White Christmas. I still love Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye doing the "Sisters" number.

forgotten about the George C. Scott Scrooge. It was nearlt word-for-word from the book, and really well done; but it simply lacked a certain Sim.
