    ... of "The Little Matchstick Girl" in Hogfather. Howe "The Little Matchstick Girl" cn be thought of as a feel-good story is beyond me. An impoverished girl is selling matches to stay alive in a freezing night, and is too frightened to go home, so she freezes to death. But it's all OK, because she has a wonderful hallucination (or vision, if you insist) before she dies. It's a story that seems to exist to make people feel better about poverty.

    I truly detest this story, and I love Pratchett's take on it.

    The wolfpack eats venison. The lone wolf eats mice.
