When you say the word "compromise," a lot of Americans look up and go, "Uh oh, they’re gonna sell me out." And so finding common ground, I think, makes more sense.

This is how they'll frame everything that progressives want to accomplish; "There's no common ground, there."

Ok,I confess ,this is a very aggressive way to deal with people but when you are dealing with die-hards this is the only way you can win.

You have to practice the "Gentle Art of Verbal Self-Defense".Nail them with questions. You have to realize this works when you are dealing with people who don't reason or communicate very well. They just argue. So argue back, effectively.

Be straightforward with them.Ask them what solutions they have to the problems.Realize they might not agree upon the problems.Keep it narrow.Deficits and unemployment are real problems.Don't get side-tracked with other issues like abortion or Obama,he can defend himself. When people get informed enough then you can have a real conversation about the real problems in this country.Until then, its just a game of offense to them. They don't take seriously our problems.
