    I had a Facebook acquaintance tell me that "The only part of the (tax) bill that adds to the deficit is the additional year of unemployment that got tacked into the compromise."  He obviously has bought into the "spending problem" narrative.

    When I compare the sacrifices that our parents (and/or grandparents) made during the 1930s and 40s (for the greater good of our society) to the selfishness and arrested development of our current "adults", it shames me to live in this country.

      We have a populace that's pretty stupid, when it comes down to it.  It's a very small percentage of the electorate that pays any attention to anything, and when they do, they're very easily influenced by programs like this.

      All the media has to do is present it in a light that is unfavorable to unions.  With the consolidation of media we have little, or no, recourse.  All we have is Dailykos, and a few others.
